Meet the author, Alex Miles
Melbourne-based writer Alex (Lee) Miles has worked across theatre, television and advertising, and under the alluring penname H.I. Larry for eight children’s books in the Zac Power series.
While Alex enjoyed the wedding-planning process in 2013, as a self-confessed worry-wart she surprised herself by being relaxed on the day itself. Two years on, she’s divorced … not really. She’s settling down to start a family with husband Paul, who lovingly tolerates her passion for colour-coded spreadsheets.
What’s Alex been up to over the last decade or so?
Since publishing her first play at age 17, Alex has worn her writer, producer and/or director hats in a number of collaborations including pantomimes, comedies, short plays and online videos.
With a Bachelor of Psychology & Management/Marketing from Monash University and the Diploma of Professional Writing & Editing from RMIT, she’s also cut her teeth in event public relations and advertising.
Alex worked for two years as a Script Coordinator, Storyliner and Scriptwriter on Neighbours and was a finalist in ABC2’s 2008 travel show, Fanging It. She’s published eight books in the Zac Power Spy Camp series (four of which have seen new editions under Zac Power Spy Recruit), along with numerous pantomimes and plays including The Pavilion (co-written with Nick Musgrove) and Porky Pies (co-written with Veronica Milsom).
Sixty Secrets for a Happy Bride is Alex’s latest book.
These days she juggles web, non-fiction and children’s writing, and is expecting the arrival of her first child in August 2015.
